FORAGE & FEAST EVENTS
A seasonal foraging walk, followed by a feast inspired by the landscape
Come and spend a few hours slowing down, looking a little closer, and discovering just how much there is to eat in the landscape around us.
My Forage & Feast events combine relaxed, informative foraging walks with one of my favourite things: sitting down afterwards to share really good food.
We’ll head out together to explore what’s growing wild that season, from familiar edible plants and herbs to flowers, fruits, seeds, fungi and some of the less obvious ingredients you might otherwise walk straight past. I’ll show you how I identify what we find, talk about how I use it in the kitchen, and share some of the folklore, traditional uses and stories attached to the landscape along the way.
Then, once we’ve worked up an appetite, we’ll settle down for a seasonal feast featuring wild and locally sourced ingredients.
Small group experience: Maximum 20 people
Price: £65 per person
Location: This experience takes place at the location specified for each event.
What we'll discover
My foraging walks are designed to give you practical knowledge you can actually take away and use, rather than simply pointing at plants for a few hours.
Depending on the season and what nature decides to provide us with, I’ll:
-
Introduce you to the basics of seasonal foraging and, in autumn, mushroom hunting.
-
Teach you how to identify edible plants, herbs, flowers, fruits, trees, shrubs and fungi.
-
Show you the characteristics I use to distinguish edible species from potential lookalikes.
-
Share ideas for cooking, preserving and experimenting with wild ingredients at home.
-
Explore traditional, medicinal, craft and folklore uses of some of the plants we encounter.
-
Talk about responsible foraging, including how much to take and how to leave an area thriving behind you.
-
Explain the important laws and rules surrounding foraging in the UK.
-
Answer plenty of questions as we wander.
There is no expectation that you arrive knowing anything about wild food. Complete beginners are very welcome, as are people who already forage and simply want to deepen their knowledge.
And then we feast...
Foraging makes you hungry. Conveniently, feeding people is another thing I love doing.
After our walk, we’ll gather in a sheltered spot in the countryside for a relaxed picnic-style lunch created around the season.
The menu changes throughout the year and is inspired by what is growing, what is available locally and what I have been preserving, fermenting, pickling or squirrelled away in jars from previous seasons.
Expect generous, rustic food rather than anything overly formal: interesting flavours, seasonal produce, wild ingredients and dishes designed to be passed around and enjoyed together.
For me, this is an important part of learning about wild food. It’s one thing to identify an ingredient in a hedgerow. It’s another to taste it and suddenly realise that this overlooked leaf, flower, mushroom or fruit can become something genuinely delicious.
My approach to foraging
I'm a self-taught forager, food writer and cook, and I've spent years learning from the landscape around me.
Foraging has completely changed the way I experience the seasons. Once you begin recognising what grows around you, an ordinary walk becomes something entirely different. You start noticing the first shoots appearing in spring, waiting for particular flowers to open in summer, watching the hedgerows slowly fill with fruit and getting quietly excited when mushroom season begins.
I want my foraging walks to leave you feeling more connected to the landscape and confident enough to continue exploring long after the day itself is over. You'll probably never look at a hedgerow quite the same way again.
Who are Forage & Feast events for?
These events are perfect if you're curious about wild food, love seasonal cooking, want to understand the countryside around you a little better, or simply fancy spending a day outdoors followed by something delicious.
You don't need any previous foraging knowledge and you certainly don't need to know your hogweed from your hawthorn before you arrive.
Just bring your curiosity, sensible footwear and an appetite.
Book a Forage & Feast experience
Places are intentionally limited to a maximum of 20 people so that everyone has the opportunity to ask questions, examine what we find and enjoy the experience without disappearing into a crowd.
Choose your upcoming event below and come and discover what's growing wild this season.
Once you have booked your tickets, you will receive an email with a confirmation, guide on what to wear and bring with you, where we will be meeting, and any other important information to note.

Lana was really welcoming and knowledgeable. A wonderful few hours walking through forest and field looking for mushrooms....not many edible ones found but really informative!! The homemade ketchup and apple jam provided as a taster by Lana on the walk was delicious. Good to be out in nature and noticing things you'd normally walk past.
